Village: around the bush

Russian villages are very different – there is poor and miserable, there is with the internet and boutiques… Almost every one of them – small “navel of the earth”. You can put into this point the tip of compasses and cut into circles the forests, lakes and rivers, heavens and horizons… For a modest fee to the mosquitos.

Jewish theme

In my works this theme emerged spontaneously and naturally – with Israel and age. First there were landscapes of Israel and biblical subjects, and then the interest in history and traditions. Now this interest supports
NER Art Gallery – gallery in New York, specializing in “Jewish theme”.

Father experienced hunger of blockade Leningrad. He lived for a difficult, but interesting and long life… Uncle killed in the first year of the war in air fight. He was 19 years old.

We want to know our roots – it gives hope for the future and makes us less lonely. Also I really like the old studio photographs. With naive decorations and open faces.

Morning on Dead Sea

Strange, but Dead Sea is somewhat similar to White Sea. Only instead snow and ice – salt. Salt works wonders: creates labyrinths, grows corals and mushrooms, bakes gingerbreads… And nearby the mountains, in which I distinctly see ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah… Fabulous morning.
